Sustainability

Conservation officers and English Heritage are keen to see the re-establishment of historic glass and also to help owners for these properties achieve better U values without damaging any of the fabric of the buildings that we are guardians and owners.

Typically historic glass provides very poor U values by todays standards. Early 18th and 19th Century 3mm cylinder glass would typically provide a U value of between 7 and 8.  Modern building regs are looking for new build properties to have glass with a U value below 1.4.

With our new Cylinder Conservation glass we can achieve U values  of between 3.7 and 5.4 resulting in material energy and heating savings in listed buildings.

With our treatment in situ of historically important glass we can normally achieve U values of between 3.9 and 5.6
